(WBAY) – 319 days. That’s how long it’s been since Brett Jedwabny last called Appleton home. On Saturday, he returned home for the first time since the accident, and after several months of treatment in Milwaukee and Chicago. His father, Tyler, could see Brett’s excitement as soon as he stepped out of the car.
“We’ve been working hard on the left leg, he started initiation a couple weeks ago, and then he did kind of a quarter step,” said Tyler. “We get here today, and he takes one full step with his left leg, two full steps actually. Nicole and I both looked and were like ‘Guess we needed to be home’.”
For Brett, this was a first since the accident, and it didn’t take much longer for tears to be shed as the Jedwabnys officially met the paramedics and first responders who saved Brett’s life. CONTINUE
