(Hickory Daily Record) – A Hickory man who suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling from his roof the day after Thanksgiving is home. He was released from Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte last week.

Eric Luckadoo was placing a Santa Claus decoration atop his home on Nov. 23. At some point, Eric fell from the roof and landed on a concrete patio.

There was no one else around. His wife of 34 years, Amy Luckadoo, found Eric a few minutes after the fall. The 57-year-old sustained numerous brain and skull injuries, which doctors described as non-survivable.

The fall broke Eric’s scapula, clavicle and 10 ribs all on the right side of his body. He received a craniectomy to relieve an enlarged left epidural hematoma, and he later developed a collapsed left lung. CONTINUE
