“He’s a Walking miracle,” High School Celebrates Student’s Recovery

(WWMT) — The Homer High School boys basketball team reunited with a teammate who continues to recover from a traumatic brain injury. 16-year-old Tyson Garrett joined his team from the stands Friday and was surrounded by family and friends . His parents said they’re taking his brain injury day by day, but the outpouring of support from the community has lifted their spirits.

“We are 1,” is the slogan the Homer Trojans wore with pride at the basketball game in honor of Tyson’s jersey number. They weren’t the only ones either. “Some people have been wearing his shirt everywhere, a lot of big schools,” said Henry Garrett, Tyson’s father.

Tyson’s story has grabbed the attention of thousands across West Michigan. The teen’s parents said they’ve even heard from total strangers. CONTINUE
