(AOL) — For officers of the High Point Police Department, a recent traffic accident in Randolph County has hit close to home.
Caleb Dulin, the 16-year-old son of HPPD training coordinator David Dulin, was critically injured in the Oct. 31 crash — he has a traumatic brain injury — and the wreck has taken a toll not just on Dulin and his immediate family, but also on his work family.
“It might sound like a cliché, but we’re a pretty tight-knit family here at the police department, and you can certainly feel the ripples of this throughout the department,” said Lt. Travis Reams, who is Dulin’s supervisor and has worked closely with him for more than a dozen years.
“There’s a real somber air that you can feel every day, but we’re all clinging to hope right now.” CONTINUE
