(Energy Portal) – A high school athlete in Richfield, Minnesota, is on the road to recovery after sustaining a serious brain injury during a hockey scrimmage over the weekend.
Seventeen-year-old Mason Garcia, senior captain of the Academy of Holy Angels’ hockey and basketball teams, took a hit against the boards that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. The injury prompted an outpouring of support from the community, with a GoFundMe page set up to assist with medical expenses and ongoing care.
Despite the severity of the injury, recent updates indicate that Garcia is showing signs of progress. A school representative revealed that Garcia is now able to sit up and has started regaining movement in his extremities. CONTINUE
