Every Acquired Brain Injury is ‘As Individual as a Thumbprint’


(MSN) – Mel Hartman was 31 when she experienced a sudden cardiac arrest in her home. The mother-of-two said the CPR she received before paramedics arrived likely saved her life.

“My friend coming over for a cup of tea didn’t expect that he’d be doing CPR on me, but thank God he knew what to do,” she said. After waking from a week-long coma, Ms Hartman was eventually diagnosed with a hypoxic brain injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain.
