Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Horror Head Injury ‘Nearly Died Twice’


(edinburghlive) – A woman who was airlifted to an Edinburgh hospital after a horror fall left her with a severe brain injury has told how she ‘nearly died twice’.

Ashley fractured her skull and suffered four blood blots on the brain after being thrown from her horse. She was airlifted to the capital’s Royal Infirmary and spent six and a half weeks in a coma.

Over the next 12 months the 26-year-old had to learn to independently walk, talk and eat again. Following the incident in Cardenden, Fife, Ashley has shown her appreciation for the Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, who she believes saved her life.

“I really believe I would have died if SCAA hadn’t been there that day,” she said. “It was a Sunday in September and my cousin and I decided to take our horses out to enjoy some jumps in the field. CONTINUE
