(WPBF) – Five months after a violent attack left her hospitalized and fighting for her life, Palms West Hospital nurse Leela Lal is finally home.
Lal, a nurse, was attacked during her shift in February, suffering multiple facial fractures and a traumatic brain injury. After months in intensive care and rehabilitation, she returned home on Saturday to a warm welcome from family, friends and community members.
Lal’s daughter, Cindy Joseph, as supporters gathered outside the family’s home, said, “I didn’t actually think she would come home like this, it seemed so far away, I’m so happy. She’s come a long way, a lot of hard work, so I’m really proud of her and I’m really happy to have her back.” CONTINUE
