Xavier’s Comeback: Relearning Life After a Traumatic Brain Injury


(Miami Times Online) – At just 24 years old, Xavier Smith was working full-time and studying at night to become an air conditioning technician. He was especially excited after moving into his first apartment, a milestone he had been working toward for months.

But just four days after his big move, on February 13, 2024, Xavier’s life changed forever.

He was struck by a car while driving, which sent his car crashing into a pole. Xavier was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial, where he underwent an emergency brain surgery and extensive medical treatment. CONTINUE
