(Wayne State University) – Testosterone replenishment may improve physical and behavioral outcomes after traumatic brain injury, according to a new study published by a team of scientists at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
The study shows that stress hormones like adrenaline worsen the effects of concussions. Sports-related concussions, along with high intensity levels of physical training, often result in low testosterone levels in men. The findings also may lead to a new way to effectively treat the chronic stress, anxiety and excessive cardiovascular reactivity that frequently follow head injuries. CONTINUE
