Ferguson Officer Makes Emotional Return After Traumatic Brain Injury


(KSDK) – A moment more than a year and a half in the making. Ferguson police officer Travis “TJ” Brown is back home in St. Louis to continue his recovery. And on Wednesday, a milestone turned into a celebration.

“Welcome home, TJ!” Cheers, hugs, and tears filled Heaven’s Creamery, his favorite ice cream shop, owned by his family, as Brown rolled through the doors. It was a surprise that left many in the crowd emotional.

Brown was critically injured in the line of duty on August 9, 2024, during a protest on the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown’s death. During the unrest, he was knocked to the ground, suffering a traumatic brain injury. There was a time when he was in a coma. CONTINUE
