(Northern News Now) – is set to cross the finish line in Canal Park in a few days, completing her first marathon after doctors once told her cardio would not be in her future.
Boyer, a retired professional snowboarder, saw her athletic career come to a sudden halt after multiple severe head injuries led to a brain bleed that went undiagnosed for more than two weeks. The injury shifted her brain 11 millimeters just before her Olympic qualifying season.
“I thought that my life was over because of my brain injury. And I have realized that I’m bigger than my brain injury. And I decided that I wanted to be the example that I wish that I had in my recovery,” Boyer said. CONTINUE
