Angela’s Story of Recovery From Brain Injury and Respiratory Failure


(Kindred Hospital) – Angela was severely injured in a motorcycle accident, suffering facial and skull fractures, a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain bleed), and a hemopneumothorax (serious collection of blood and air between the lungs and chest wall). As a result, Angela experienced respiratory failure, requiring a tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation to breathe.

Angela transferred from a traditional hospital to Kindred Hospital Philadelphia – Havertown for specialized acute care and rehabilitation. When she arrived at Kindred, Angela was very confused due to her injuries, and she wouldn’t work with her caregivers. CONTINUE
