(AOL) – Laine Nippersits on a blanket in her living room, gazing at Mallory Hogan, who beams back at her. “Hello, hello, to Lainey, how are you today?” Hogan sings, strumming a major chord on her guitar.
Hogan pauses and holds out two cards: one with a yellow smiley face, “Happy,” and one with a frowning face, “Anxious.” After a few seconds, Laine looks at the cards and reaches forward. Unlike most days, her hand touches “Anxious.” “Let’s see if we can turn that around,” Hogan said, and picked up a drum.
This time last summer, Laine was probably at day camp. Today, and every Tuesday and Thursday for the foreseeable future, Laine has music therapy. CONTINUE
