(Worcester Polytechnic Institute) – Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) researcher Dirk Albrecht is launching a three-year project to investigate the microscopic cell damage caused by blast-induced traumatic brain injury.
Supported by a $554,947 grant from the National Institutes of Health Academic Research Enhancement Award program, Albrecht’s team will track how rapid pressure waves disrupt brain activity in real time, aiming to identify treatment pathways that promote recovery.
Traumatic brain injuries affect millions of military personnel and civilians each year, yet clinical care remains largely restricted to rest and symptom management. CONTINUE
