NYC Marathon Runner Raises Awareness for Brain Injury After Accident

(lohud) – Ashley Petrullo will run the New York City Marathon Sunday. Officially, it will be her ninth marathon and her third New York. But, in a sense, she has run one more — or, maybe, more accurately, is in the middle of another. Call that one an ultra.

It has been two-and-a-half years since the White Plains resident and her boyfriend, Nick Franceski, were riding a Vespa scooter in Key West when they were struck by an SUV. Petrullo suffered massive road rash, a concussion and a shin fracture that, undiagnosed for a year, has caused lingering problems. By comparison, she was lucky. CONTINUE
