Ultra-Endurance Athlete Returns to Racing After Traumatic Brain Injury


(Castanet.com) – Just over a year after a life-altering accident, local ultra-endurance athlete Savannah Holmes is back on the road and racing again — this time with a mission.

In March 2024, Holmes was struck head-on by a truck while cycling, suffering a broken neck and a traumatic brain injury. “I was travelling at a speed of about 40 kilometres per hour… came to a dead halt against an F-150 and sustained a pretty dramatic brain injury,” she said.

The 26-year-old Kelowna resident spent months in recovery, facing both physical and cognitive challenges as she worked to regain her strength and independence. CONTINUE
