(Central Oregon Daily News) – A Central Oregon community is rallying around a fourth-grade baseball player recovering from a sudden brain injury with a fundraiser planned Saturday to help his family cover mounting medical costs.
Kai Bamford is a baseball player at Trinity Lutheran who suffered a brain bleed after a game three weeks ago. He was flown to Portland where he underwent multiple surgeries on his brain, including a craniotomy.
The brain bleed was caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that ruptured. According to the Mayo Clinic, AVM “is a tangle of blood vessels that creates irregular connections between arteries and veins. This disrupts blood flow and prevents tissues from receiving oxygen.” AVM can occur anywhere in the body. CONTINUE
